Come hear about the lastest transportation project that has set many Bostonians abuzz! YPT welcomes Michael O'Dowd, a MassDOT design engineer and project manager, to our Lunch & Learn series. Mr. O'Dowd will speak about the Mass Pike Realignment study, a project that will reconstruct the Allston turnpike interchange. The interchange was built about 50 years ago and is reaching the end of its lifespan. Repairs on the elevated stretch of highway have become increasingly expensive, and the existing structure was not designed to handle the traffic volume and heavier trucks it now carries. Engineers would also like to straighten the interchange's sharp curves and off- and on-ramps. The straightening project will create a large area of new open space that may be developed or turned into parkland. Supporters of the project across the city, including bike, pedestrian, and transit advocates, are excited for the possibilities that the project opens up.

Please join us to hear from Michael O'Dowd; free light lunch provided to those who RSVP of course!
