Congratulations to our award winners!

Project of the Year - Maeve Ragusin (VHB) - Maeve worked on the MBTA Commuter Rail Schedules Initiative (CRSI) in from July 2015 to May 2016. CRSI was initiated by the MBTA to improve daily commuter on time performance, increase overall rush hour options for passengers, and implement comprehensive reform to the operations. Maeve's transformative computer model of the commuter rail system enabled a comprehensive rewrite of the system schedules that improved on-time performance and increased peak-period service.

Research/Innovation of the Year - Joseph Zissman (Cambridge Systematics) - Joseph worked on a team that produced the Vizguide website, a website intended as a reference point for all transportation practitioners looking to make their data more aesthetically effective and accessible. The project specifically sought to provide visualization guidance to small transportation agencies who might not have a budget for large graphic arts operations. Subsequently, the research has been presented at AMPO, TRB, and AASHTO conferences and TransPlex, Florida’s statewide transportation planning conference. The project has received positive reviews from transportaiton officials as a means of enabling effective communications to transportation users.

Community Spirit Award - David Baumgartner - (Cambridge Systematics) - David has led the YPT Boston Chapter for the past two years and spent five years on the YPT Boston Chapter Board. During this time, his tireless efforts have advanced the Young Professionals in Transportation Boston Chapter and transformed it into the dynamic organization it is today. David has contributed considerable time and effort over the years in advancing the vision of YPT to young transportation professionals around the Boston area.  During this time YPT grew from a fledgling organization to one with over 100 members which holds multiple events for its members each month.
